Waitangi Day is a public holiday for New Zealanders held on the 6th
February every year to commemorate the signing of the Treaty of
Waitangi, the country's founding document, in 1840.
Official celebrations are held at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds in the Bay
of Islands, Northland, but there are also many other events throughout
the country.
Can you work out (with Mum and Dad's help), maybe with a calculator, how many years ago the Treaty was signed?
