Rainbow day

Each class at school came dressed in a colour of the rainbow.
Our class came dressed in purple as our colour of the rainbow.

Graphing

Today we made a bar graph with our book bags.
We found out there were more green bags than any other colours.

Blue and yellow were the same as they both had 3.

There were 2 more blue bags than pink ones.

Can you think of other ways to compare these bags? Share them with mum and dad.

School Evacuated

What a deluge of rain today. Due to 'rivers' pouring down our driveway and around our school, Mrs Gordon closed our school and everyone was sent home when their parents arrived to get them. It was a bit of an adventure for us as we had to get carried or splashed across big puddles to get home!

Mixing colours

Today we tried an experiment to see what would happen when we mixed yellow and red together.

We made orange when we mixed red and yellow.

Buddy reading

We love it when Room 9 comes in for buddy reading. We get to know new people and they read us great stories. Thank you room 9.

ANZAC Day celebrations

At school we made poppies which we then put onto some wreaths.
We also had our Field of Rememberance, like all schools in New Zealand. The crosses had the names of soldiers from Lower Hutt who died in the war.
We had a ceremony where we put poppies onto the crosses and played the Last Post and said the Oath.
We also learnt about WW1 and saw all the things a soldier has to put in their pack - it was a lot and weighed about 50kilos.
We got to try on some of the gear.

We got to write our names on the wall in Rooms 5 and 6 before the builders covered it all up!

Fun Ferns

We started Term 2 with Fun Ferns with Rose who taught us ball skills.  We had Fun Ferns sessions each day.  We learned how to land, to throw chest, bounce and rainbow passes, and  new games. It was fun.
