'100 Days at School' fun

Today, we have been at school for 100 days this year.
We have been counting the days since the beginning of the year.

We decided to have a fun day of activities based around the number 100.
When we got to school, we found there were some balloons in our class. When we counted them, there was only 50.
Mrs Silcock invited us to share the day with her class, so we decided to share our balloons with Room 6 children. When we got there we found they had 50 balloons as well!
Clever us - we counted them and found that 50 + 50 = 100
We shared our collections of 100 and there was a big variety  of things in our collections. We had leaves, beads, cars, stickers, things, macaroni, grains of rice, raisins,  and many more things. We think Sarah had the smallest collection - she had 100 little pieces of copper in a very small jar.
We made crowns and wands.

 














We also painted a big 100, put 100 stickers on a chart, iced biscuits and sprinkled 100s on them,  and made 100 out of a carrot and 2 pieces of cucumber.

We also joined with Rooms 1 and 2 for fitness. We had 10 different activities and we had to do 10 of each activity.
10 groups of 10 make 100.

What a Fun day we have had. We all worked really hard on all our activities.

Whanau Groups

Today we were in our Whanau groups and we made some more stars and feathers for our display in the hall. We wrote things we are good at and things we hope we can do, on them. It was fun working with our buddies.

Fractions

We are using a fractions game to practise sorting fractions. It is called Fraction Sort. It is fun.

100 Days Celebration

Dear Parents

Our junior team have been counting the days we have been at school this year and on Monday 27th July it will be 100 days.

We are going to celebrate this event by doing some activities centred around 100.

One of these activities will be sharing collections of 100 objects. We are asking each child to bring a collection of 100 items e.g. hairclips, stickers etc in a sealed container. We look forward to sharing a wide variety of collections (we know you are all very creative!).

Welcome back to Term 3

We are all happy and excited to be back at school today ready for term 3.
What a lot of interesting and fun things you all did over the holidays. The Minion movie seemed to be a big hit!!

Our Awesome Kapahaka Group

Congratulations to our Kapahaka Group. They had their performance at the Polyfest last night and were absolutely wonderful. Well done to you all.

Opening of Rooms 5 and 6

Today we opened our refurbished classrooms. Matua Whaiteri said some Karakia and we sang some waiata.
We prepared the rooms to be used for a purpose by putting our positive energy into the building. We touched all the walls while we thought positive happy thoughts.
We can't wait to use the new room.

Luna came to visit

Today, James brought his dog Luna to school to share for news. She was very soft and friendly. We loved the way her tail curled!

Bake Sale

Today, our kapahaka group held a bake sale to raise money to help pay for our new kapahaka costumes. They will be performing in the Polyfest later his term. We enjoyed spending our money and buying treats!

The Dowse came to us!

On Friday, Jen from 'The Dowse' came to do a workshop with us.
Rooms 2 and 4 went together.
We started by listening to Jen retell the 'Creation Story' using a felt board. She was a really expressive story teller and everyone was spellbound as they listened.

Next we told our own story about where we live, through art.
Because we live on a hill, we started with a mountain, and added a river. Next we added ourselves and our parents and represented the people with korus.

What amazing results!
